Mt. Washington Valley, NH is home to seven Alpine ski resorts and six Nordic (cross-country) ski and snowshoe centers. Together they offer 250 Alpine trails and 450 km of cross county trails for classic and skate skiing. At the center of it all is North Conway, voted among the top 25 ski towns in the world by National Geographic, among the top three ski destinations by Snoweast magazine readers and among the "coolest ski towns" by Men's Journal.  Perhaps most importantly Mt Washington Valley has been named the most affordable ski destination in the Northeast by TripAdvisor for 2012 and 2013. When Attitash opened in January 1965, it became known as the “red carpet ski area,” for its customer service and business philosophy of limiting lifts lines by limiting the number of tickets sold daily. In the mid-1990s, Attitash dramatically increased the available skiing & riding acreage by developing the Bear Peak area that included the installation of a high-speed summit quad chairlift as well as adding open glades, wider intermediate terrain, some of the state’s most sought after alpine race trails including Illusion, and the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel. Acquired by Peak Resorts in 2007, Attitash Mountain Resort has continued to make improvements and resort enhancements including state-of-the-art snowmaking and the Nor’Easter Mountain Coaster.

Attitash Mountain Resort is operated by Peak Resorts, which also operates nearby sister resort Wildcat Mountain (joint lift tickets and season passes available in the winter), Crotched Mountain in Southern New Hampshire, Mount Snow in Vermont, as well as numerous other mountains in the Midwest U.S.

Bear Notch Ski Touring is a full-service cross-country ski and snowshoe center. Skiers begin memorable winter adventures at the 200-year-old farmhouse base lodge. More than 60 km of meticulously groomed trails include scenic field, forest and riverside loops with exciting and challenging trails leading into surrounding mountains. The center offers guided tours, ski school, retail, rental and demo center. Homemade bread and soups are on tap daily. Lodging, restaurants and trailside picnic tables are accessible from groomed terrain. It’s dog-friendly, kid-friendly, family-friendly and very skier friendly.

Located in the heart of the pristine upper Saco River Valley, Bear Notch Ski Touring and Snowshoe Center offers meticulously groomed trails for all ability levels. Beginners can enjoy a scenic and simple ski through our lower fields and out to the ever-changing Saco River with its breathtaking views up the Saco River Valley toward Crawford Notch.

Intermediate and advanced skiers will find ample challenges in the rolling terrain of our 10km village loop that connects them to hillier portions of the trail network, allowing for an extended ski. Well-behaved dogs and their humans are always welcome on our trails, where they can join you and your family as you all enjoy the best snow in the valley.

A New England tradition since 1935, Black Mountain offers inspiring terrain packed with fun and excitement. Nestled in the heart of the White Mountains, Black's tranquil peak rises to 3,303 feet with breathtaking views of Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range. Skiing and snowboarding are offered on 40 trails and glades and 1,100 feet of scenic vertical. Black's ski school has a long and successful history with commitment to value.

Black Mountain is an independent, family-owned and operated mountain. Friendly people have been the heart of Black Mountain for more than 75 years. Family is the focus, from the terrain, to the staff, to the skiers and riders. The area embodies the tranquility and beauty of classic New England skiing with a rustic lodge for après ski enjoyment. The mountain’s southern exposure provides protection on windy days. Providing a great value in lift ticket prices, the area has plenty of ski terrain to keep every family member happy. Black’s peak rises to 3,303 ft. with views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range. Among the improvements for this winter are a complete rebuild of one of the snowmaking pumps and drive motors and replacing the main water distribution station. The triple chairlift also received new computer controls for greater reliability.

The largest ski area in New Hampshire, Bretton Woods is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2013/14 winter with special events and specials on lift tickets. Bretton Woods is renowned for its beautifully groomed wide-open trails serviced by ten lifts including four high-speed quad chairs, four freestyle terrain parks, and breathtaking vistas of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range. The area is consistently rated among the best in New Hampshire for family programs, service, on-mountain food and lodging by readers of SKI Magazine. Elegant lodging options are available at The Mount Washington Hotel, with packages including its “Stay Here, Ski Free” offer. Resort amenities in addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding include 100 kilometers of cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, sleigh rides, snowtubing, children’s programs and an indoor climbing wall. The recently-added year-round Canopy Tour includes more than ten zip-lines, sky bridges, rappels and a dual racing zip into the base area.

That's what Cranmore Mountain has been offering families for over 70 years, right in the heart of North Conway Village. Ride the Express Quad to the summit in 4 ½ minutes. Cranmore has entertained families for over 75 years with fun and festive winter activities. For this winter guests will find a new BR 350 snow groomer and improvements to the snowmaking system including 45 new high-efficiency tower snowguns. Other recent improvements include replacing the historic East Double Chair with a triple chairlift. For those looking to try something different, the Soaring Eagle Zipline, Mountain Coaster and Giant Swing operate all winter. Guests can enjoy Cranapalooza, with night skiing, tubing, live music, and a variety of fun family activities every Saturday night and most holiday periods. Located in the heart of North Conway, there are plenty of nearby choices for dining, lodging, and tax-free shopping.   The new master plan for Cranmore involves a totally new facelift for six of the skier services buildings and new condo construction.

Jackson XC boasts the largest trail system in the East with superb grooming and a beautiful base lodge in picturesque Jackson Village. Boston magazine voted Jackson XC as the "Best Cross Country Skiing in New England". The center's "out-the-door" trails lead from inn-to-inn and to a dozen restaurants. Novice skiers enjoy a fine balance of assistance and adventure, while expert skiers enjoy extraordinary scenic beauty and plenty of challenge. Jackson has a full spectrum of trail options.

It’s the largest and oldest (since 1888) cross country ski and snowshoe trail system in the eastern U.S. featuring trailside accommodations at a wide range of lodging options and a variety of restaurants. Skiers will find cross country skiing and snowshoeing, a full-service rental shop, retail shop, and lessons housed in a spacious modern lodge with fireplace, showers and locker rooms. Magnificent vistas of the Presidential Range, wide-open fields, and the Ellis River are found along the trails. Nearby are sleigh rides and ice skating. 

New for the 2013-14 winter skiers will benefit from a new $175,000 grooming vehicle and early season and detailed grooming implements. Trail improvements and increased access to high elevation plateau “Prospect Farm” with its reliable snowpack. There’s a new Waffle Hut on the Ellis River Trail and an expanded Storyland Element Garden for younger children. 

Snowshoe tours head out 5 times a week on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays and free waxing demonstrations take place each Friday.

King Pine has been a New England family tradition for decades. Each alpine ticket includes complimentary XC skiing, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing and ice skating at any point while the ticket is valid. Located just 15 minutes south of Conway, NH, King Pine offers 17 trails and glades, 75 percent of which are suited for beginners and intermediates. A new double-black diamond trail, Pine Brule, is sure to please advanced skiers and boarders. The Twisted Pine Terrain Park offers myriad hits, rails and a professionally groomed half pipe. Purity Spring Resort also offers charming, family friendly accommodations.

King Pine is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, affordability, grooming and consistent snow conditions. Since 1962, the ski area has been owned and operated by the Hoyt family, who also own the affiliated Purity Spring Resort. Skiers and snowboarders will find hits and rails in the Twisted Pine Terrain Park. Experts can carve turns on Pitch Pine and double-black diamond Pine Brule. All lift tickets include complimentary cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating. Other winter activities include night skiing and snowtubing. Amenities include an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, restaurant, and lodging.

The King Pine & Purity Spring Nordic Center features 22 tracked and skate-groomed kilometers of forested trails winding around scenic Purity Lake. Skiers traverse through the grounds of Purity Spring Resort and twist through tall pines in the adjacent New Hampshire Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary. Trails range in difficulty from beginner to expert, and are open from sunrise to sunset. Classic and skate-ski rentals are available at the King Pine Rental Shop.

The Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring & Snowshoe Center boasts inn-to-inn touring on over 60 km of trails. Skiers wind through riverside hayfields, mountainside spruce and hemlock forests with a diverse selection of terrain. Trails connect the towns of Intervale, Kearsarge and North Conway, offering views of the Saco River and magnificent Mt. Washington. Ski and snowshoe rentals are available. Lessons are offered for all levels. The annual Chocolate Festival is always scheduled on the last Sunday in February and features inn-to-inn skiing with chocolate treats at each stop.

The longest running ski area in Maine, Shawnee Peak offers great value and family fun. With dramatic, close-up views of Mt. The Wildcat Express quad is a powerful summit lift, whisking skiers to 4,062 feet in just 6 minutes, and provides access to long ski trails, uncrowded slopes, the #1 scenery in the North America (SKI magazine, many years running). Fly half a mile down the mountain at speeds up to 45 mph on the expanded ZipRiderTM zip-line cable ride at heights up to 70 feet above ski trails (to operate as scheduled, weather permitting). Wildcat Mountain is a year-round destination, located in the Mt.
