FROM MANGOS TO MARINARA TO MAPLE, IT’S DELICIOUS MARCH MOUNTAIN MADNESS IN MT WASHINGTON VALLEY, NH
North Conway, NH – As we finish February, dubbed one of the sweetest months in Mt Washington Valley, all taste buds turn to March for the next chapter in gastronomic getaways. From pasta dinners to New England’s sweet Maple Madness, March in the White Mountains of New Hampshire is one “sappy” month for those who love a good culinary caper. Here’s the (ice cream) scoop on all the deliciousness in store.
Throughout March: Visit the Sugar Shack & pick up “Tap Your Own” kits at 100 Acre Wood: If there is steam rolling out of the Sugar Shack, you are welcome to step inside for a firsthand look of the historic and innovative process of turning sap into maple syrup. Stop in and taste a sample. Believe in Books will have "Tap Your Own" kits available, buckets to borrow, spiles and drill bits to purchase. They provide the supplies - you provide the trees! Kits will be available in our 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack on the weekends and at Believe in Books office during the week. March 1: Leap into Spring Five Course "Bubbly Brunch" at The Oxford House Inn & Restaurant: The Oxford House Inn & Nappi Distributors invite you to a very special five course brunch starting at 11:30am for reception and noon for brunch. Enjoy Chef Jonathan Spaks's fabulous menu while savoring and learning about sparkling wines from around the world. $58 per person, plus tax & gratuity. March 7: 3rd Annual Chili & Beer Tasting Fundraiser at Castle in the Clouds: Enjoy two hours of tasting, mingling and music from 3:30-5:30pm, on the first floor of the Carriage House. March 6, 7, 13, 14: $29 Powder & Pasta evenings at Bretton Woods: Ski or ride the first two weekend evenings in March until 8pm* and enjoy a delicious pasta dinner for $29! Or get on the slopes at 2pm* for $53. Dinners feature penne pasta with a classic red Italian sauce or savory white alfredo sauce, and your choice of meatballs or grilled chicken, a side of fresh garlic bread all topped with parmesan cheese. March 15: Paddy O’Paws Brunch & Auction: Help raise money for emergency care provided by Conway Area Humane Society at this brunch and silent auction fundraiser at Red Jacket Mountain View Resort. March 17: Green Beer & Irish Snacks in the Pub at Wildcat: Celebrate St Patrick’s day on the slopes at Wildcat. March 20-21: Jimmy Buffet - Caribbean Weekend at Max's Restaurant at Snowvillage Inn: Pull out the parrot head garb and get ready for some boat drinks and Cheeseburgers in Paradise! March 21-22: 25th Annual New Hampshire Maple Weekend & Remick Open House in the Sugarhouse: Visit sugar houses throughout the state for tastings and demonstrations sponsored by the NH Maple Producers Association. At Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm, enjoy outdoor demonstrations of historical maple sugaring practices on Saturday, including Doc Remick’s handmade backyard boiler. Visit the sugarhouse at the museum and farm to watch and learn how a modern evaporator works, then sample a Remick-made maple product while supplies last.
