MT WASHINGTON VALLEY BUSINESSES POISED FOR STRONG JULY 4TH HOLIDAY WEEKEND

All indicators point to a possible record breaking weekend in Mt Washington Valley, NH

North Conway, NH – Mt Washington Valley, NH businesses are poised for a possible record breaking July 4th weekend, according to the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.  With a record-breaking 48.9 million American’s planning the all-American road trip this Independence Day, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA), plus lower gas prices than last year, a robust economy and a good long-term weather forecast, all the indicators point to a stellar weekend for businesses throughout the Mt Washington Valley.  According to the AAA press release distributed today, “Overall travel volume for the holiday is expected to rise 4.1% over last year, with an additional 1.9 million people planning road trips and other vacations to celebrate America’s birthday.”  This means the travel volume for the 2019 July 4th holiday will be the highest ever since the AAA started tracking holiday travel 19 years ago.

“Some of those increases in travelers over July 4th weekend will certainly trickle down to Mt Washington Valley,” said Janice Crawford, Executive Director of the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.  “With the July 4th holiday falling on a Thursday, we expect to see more visitors enjoying three and four-day weekends in the Valley this year.  Add to that, high consumer confidence, lower gas prices,  and the all-important stable weather forecast, and factors are lining up for a very strong weekend of tourism in Mt Washington Valley,” Crawford finished.

An informal poll of Mt Washington Valley Chamber members revealed that key indicators show an increase in visitors to Mt Washington Valley for the 2019 July 4th holiday weekend.  “We are predicting a 20-percent increase in bookings over last year for the July 4th holiday weekend,” said Steve Lambert, owner of the Inn at Thorn Hill in Jackson, NH. He attributes the increase to a tubing and Cajun Cookout experience planned for guests over the weekend boosting interest in staying at the inn.  Lambert fully expects the weekend to be a sell-out at the Inn at Thorn Hill.

Jennifer Kovach, Innkeeper and co-owner of the Snowvillage Inn, shared that dinner reservations at the inn’s restaurant, Max’s Restaurant and Pub, are pacing ahead of last year’s July 4th holiday, indicating it’ll be a very busy weekend at the inn and restaurant.

And Jonathan Rivers of Indian Mound Golf Club shared with the chamber that given the strong Memorial Day turnout at the golf course and restaurant, he’s anticipating July 4th weekend to follow suit, saying that they have “lots of reservations already” and the course is in great condition.

“We’re looking forward to another strong 4th of July at Cranmore,” said Becca Deschenes, Marketing Director at Cranmore Mountain Resort, adding that the resort will be celebrating with an Americana Celebration with backyard games, BBQ and live music from Shark Martin all on the back of Zip’s Deck the afternoon of the 4th.
