TEN WAYS TO SAVE IN MT WASHINGTON VALLEY, NH

Everyone wants to enjoy their vacation, but no one wants it to break the bank.  Consider an affordable destination like Mt Washington Valley, NH for your next vacation. In both 2012 and 2013 when TripAdvisor was studying the most affordable ski towns, North Conway, NH came in as the most affordable ski town east of the Mississippi both years.  Not only does Mt Washington Valley offer a wide range of lodging, dining and recreation options, it’s also the perfect destination for an affordable vacation itinerary.

Let’s explore a number of ways to save money on your next Mt Washington Valley vacation.

Check the Specials at ski resorts , golf courses and attractions

Each one of the ski resorts offers a number of fabulous specials.  From 2-4-1 at Bretton Woods and Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center to $10 night at King Pine and afternoon tickets, Youth Day, St. Paddy’s Day, Easter, and Patriot’s Day tickets, you can always find ways to save at the region’s ski resorts.  Simply search through their websites for ticket specials or ticket deals to find great offers.

The same holds true for Mt Washington Valley’s attractions and golf courses.  Special offers can be found on specific days or in conjunction with events, themed promotions and time of day or year.  You’ll often find “After two” deals at Mt Washington Valley’s attractions and golf courses.

Check the specials and packages at Lodging properties

Look for special offers and fascinating packages at any of the 150 lodging properties in Mt Washington Valley.  From guided ice climbing and ice fishing experiences to overnight stays with attractions tickets or live entertainment included, the innkeepers and hoteliers have done all the work of bundling experiences with overnight stays.  Also, often you’ll be treated to lower rates during the slow seasons, like April through early June and/or midweek in January.  And be sure to book those special stay one night, get one night free packages as soon as you spot them!

Weekly specials at restaurants

You’ll find everything from specially priced 3-course dinners to discounts on breakfast and lunch at Mt Washington Valley’s 70+ restaurants.  Look for $10 burger nights or pasta & ski nights for skiers and riders.  Each day of the week, one or more of Mt Washington Valley’s restaurants offer up a specially priced dinner.  Take advantage of those and save!

Stay at a place that includes breakfast

All of Mt Washington Valley’s inns and B&Bs include breakfast with the price of the stay.  Many of the hotels and resorts include breakfast too.  This is a great way to save on the first meal of the day!

Go camping

Mt Washington Valley offers eleven campgrounds, all offering an affordable way to stay in Mt Washington Valley.  Starting with the most affordable tent sites, right up to glamping cabins and lodges, this is one way to stay affordably.

In addition, many of the motels, hostels and lodges in the area also offer affordable options for those traveling on a budget too.

Save all your shopping for tax-free NH

Did you know that New Hampshire offers tax-free shopping?  New Hampshire is one of the few states left in the country with no sales tax.  Thus, what you see in Mt Washington Valley’s 200+ outlets, shops stores and boutiques is the price you pay.  Yes, there is a rooms and meals tax on lodging and restaurant purchases, but you will find no sales tax on goods and clothing in the Valley.  And the great news is that there are more than 75 outlets and more than 200 fabulous stores throughout the Valley for great shopping options on just about anything you may want. 

Start with the outlets at Settlers Green, where most of the region’s brand name manufacturer’s outlets are found, and be sure to shop during sales events and seasons to get even better savings.  All of the independently owned stores in North Conway Village and throughout the Valley offer sales throughout the year too. 

Remember, kids under 5 and Seniors over 80 ski free, kids under 3 are free at attractions

If you’ve got young ones, you’re in luck.  All of the ski resorts in Mt Washington Valley allow children 5 and under to ski free.  In addition, seniors 80-and-up have also earned the privilege of skiing free at most of the region’s ski resorts. 

Visit Story Land or Santa’s Village with your children aged one, two or three and they get into the park free too.  Children under four also ride the Bartlett and Valley trains on the Conway Scenic Railroad for free too.  Visit on Mother’s Day or Father’s Day and some of the region’s attractions allow Mom or Dad to ride free when accompanying a child too.

Play outside! 770,000 Acres of White Mountain National Forest

The White Mountain National Forest is our playground.  Hike, bike, waterfall-watch, bird-watch, paint, explore, back country ski, and discover the beauty of the region fee-free throughout this beautiful national forest.  A nominally-priced parking pass is necessary to leave your car at National Forest parking areas, but there is no admission fee to the park. It’s your playground to explore throughout all four seasons in Mt Washington Valley. 

Book direct

Do you want the best rate at any of the lodging properties in Mt Washington Valley?  Then don’t click on that blue button your Google Search reveals – you won’t be connecting directly to the place you want to stay.  Instead, when you search on Google and a blue box appears, you’re being directed to a third party.  Book directly with the property where you hope to stay by going to their individual website and either calling or booking online from there. Many properties will offer their best rates to those who call and mention that they are AAA or AARP members.  The third party booking engines won’t offer any additional discounts.

Travel off-season

Probably the best time to find the lowest rates, best specials and special packages is during the spring time.  From April to the end of June, you’ll find great rates and less crowds too.  Take a self-guided waterfall tour, head up to Tuckerman Ravine for some great spring skiing, attend the annual Chili Cookoff in April and Bratwurst Boil in June.  Attractions start opening as early as April and by Memorial Day they’re all open, at least on weekends. Golf courses open too as soon as the snow melts.  And all offer early season pricing.  Spring is a great time to visit Mt Washington Valley.
