NORTH CONWAY/WHITE MOUNTAINS TAKES HOME THE HONORS FOR AUTUMN ACCOLADES

North Conway, NH – From USA Today’s/10 Best Reader Poll to Buzzfeed, TripAdvisor and Trivago, towns and businesses throughout Mt Washington Valley have received wide acclaim from the media and top websites for what makes the Valley such an appealing destination over the past two months.  Renowned fall foliage added to a wide variety of ways to peep a leaf make the Valley a true favorite for visitors and journalists alike.

“We’re delighted each time we see our name on one of the “best of” lists,” said Janice Crawford, Executive Director of the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.  “Often each of the awards and accolades appear in one story and then are repeated in media throughout the country and on social media too. Our top tens and “best ofs”  have helped to garner millions and millions of impressions for Mt Washington Valley and its members bringing us wide approbation. In addition, these accolades give our chamber members a distinctive promotional advantage and place them on the map,” Crawford finished.

The media attention started in early September when PureWow.com featured Cranmore Inn and Christmas Farm Inn & Spa in a story about 20 inns perfect for watching the leaves change. Next, the Attitash Oktoberfest was included among the Travel Channel’s Ten Family Friendly Oktoberfest Celebrations.

Reader’s Digest named North Conway among the most majestic mountain towns in America list, and later MSN carried the story too.  Both articles mentioned both Stonehurst Manor and Fields of Ambrosia BATH-BODY-AROMA in North Conway.

The Kancamagus Highway always gets its fair share of acclaim every fall when it is inevitably chosen among the most scenic fall drives in the country.  This year, Boston Magazine named the Kanc among the best New England fall foliage drives and TripSavvy.com named it the number one fall foliage drive in New Hampshire. Departures Magazine also named the Kanc among the best scenic drives for leaf-peeping in a fall story.

Top honors came from USA Today/10 Best’s Readers Poll when votes poured in for North Conway/White Mountains to be on the esteemed Best Destination For Fall Foliage list.  After weeks of voting our destination was voted on the top ten list. In fact, it was among the top five vote getters. Articles about the USA Today/10 Best top ten fall destinations list have appeared coast to coast including in Detroit Metro Times and Mining Gazette, extending the reach of this story.

In the same week as the USA Today/10 Best list was announced, North Conway made it on to TripAdvisor’s Top Incredibly Romantic Fall Getaway Destinations; an honor that will help to draw visitors to the Valley.  And the media mentions went on when MassLive.com included a story about TripAdvisor’s list of top romantic fall getaway destinations, proving that media really does beget more media.

Lodging properties scored this fall with a Today Show mention of the newly opened The Glen House Hotel in a segment about great fall escapes, calling New Hampshire the quintessential fall destination.  In addition the White Mountain Hotel’s fall package was included in the New York Time’s story about affordable fall getaways. And The Wentworth, An Elegant Country Inn was included in a New England Ski Journal story about inns and B&Bs for fall fun.  Media mentions for lodging properties were not just limited to fall. Trivago.com’s recent story about  best winter family vacations featured the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort & Water Park.

NewEngland.com/Yankee included both Conway Scenic Railroad and The Mt Washington Cog Railway in their story about the 5 best fall foliage trains and Matador Networks named The Cog among the best fall train trips in the U.S.

This is just the beginning of the attention Mt Washington Valley’s tourism stories have garnered during the fall season. Every other week, the Mt Washington Valley Chamber includes a list of media mentions in their newsletter.  If purchased as advertising, Mt Washington Valley received more than $185 million dollars in value from its PR efforts over the chamber’s past year; six times more than last year.
