Who’d ever imagine that this scenic region of the Mount Washington Valley might be noted for it’s creativity with the martini? Many restaurants have taken “shaken, not stirred” to the next dimension with creative concoctions, all served in a chilled martini glass. While the traditional will always be the stalwart shaken-not-stirred-very-dry-one-olive version, many restaurants in Mt. Washington Valley have perfected the Zen of the creative martini.

Ben Williams, owner of Horesefeathers - one of the finer martini bars in the North Country captured the sentiment of the martini master with his comment, “Mama always told me a civilized drinker never imbibes in anything he can’t see his watch through!“ These martinis are mixed in a stainless steel shaker to facilitate quick chilling, then served into a chilled stemmed martini glass. Always plentiful, any leftovers are served over ice or on the side to capture the entire thrill of the chill of these fine concoctions. Let’s look at some creative elixirs that are drawing Martini connoisseurs from throughout the world to North Conway, NH, which is quickly gaining fame as the Martini capitol of the U.S.
