Leadership MWV Graduates 2017 Class

Photo: On March 28, 2017, The Leadership MWV Class of 2017 had a special opportunity to hear from five State of New Hampshire Commissioners, each committed to balancing varying interests in the state and with solutions that make good common sense for NH citizens. “We don’t work in silos,” Jeffrey Rose, Commissioner of Resources and Economic Development said.  “We, as commissioners, are in frequent dialogue with each other so that we can leverage the strengths of each department to best serve the people of NH.”

Leadership MWV is graduating seventeen new students from its program on June 5th at 3:30pm at the Eagle Mountain House. Business leaders and community members are invited to attend and congratulate these new graduates. A reception under the tent with appetizers and beverages will be provided by Eagle Mountain House’s culinary team and a special keynote address will be made by Governor Sununu. The presentation of the “Student Debt Loan Repayment” winner(s) will also be presented at the graduation. To R.S.V.P for the event, contact Lisa Eastman at lisa@MtWashingtonValley.org or 603-356-5701 ext. 300.

Leadership MWV is a network for developing professionals, providing opportunities for mentorship for community involvement and support for civic leadership. It aims to facilitate new participation on local boards, empowering those with leadership capabilities to effectively help solve local problems, and to support Young Professionals in the Community. This program emphasizes service, collaboration, and existence of synergistic opportunities to enhance the quality of life in our community.

This program is open to young professionals, looking to build a life in the Mt. Washington Valley. Lasting over a span of six-months, students meet with local and state leaders in areas pertinent to community development; such as, education, healthcare, public safety, economic development and more, with a culmination of the program ending in a graduation ceremony.

Leadership MWV is also a punctuated by a group project geared toward creating a hands-on experience on the what it takes to run a non-profit with emphasis on fundraising and event management. This project tasks students with raising a minimum of $3,000 for the “Student Debt Loan Repayment” scholarship. Students of Leadership MWV are responsible for reviewing scholarship applicants and awarding a winner(s) with monies raised to help repay their student loan debt.

“Words cannot describe how proud I am of this program and the students who have gone through it. To see how much they learn and develop as young professionals making a life in our valley is so amazing and I can’t wait to see the imprint they leave on our community. The work they have done toward raising upwards of $3,000.00 for the ‘Student Loan Debt Repayment’ scholarship is admirable and will go far beyond just the time spent in the classroom,” Janice Crawford, co-creator of the program.

Created by the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council, Leadership MWV is sponsored by Northway Bank, Conway Family Dental Care, North Conway Water Precinct and Stay MWV. Scholarships for the program are sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Mt. Washington Valley, Rotary Club of North Conway, Mountain Garden Club, Granite State College and Conway Area Lions Club.
