Get high…in the sky that is…in the White Mountain National Forest

North Conway, NH -- Mt Washington Valley, NH, located in the shadow of the largest peak in the Northeast, Mount Washington – offers several options for those hoping to escape the city and enjoy some good clean air.  From canopy tours to three options for ziplines and high ropes courses to big swings and mountain top views, Mt Washington Valley offers a number of ways to catch some good air and get high in the sky above the White Mountain National Forest.  

Soar above the canopy of the trees at Bretton Woods

 Located on the slopes of Bretton Woods at New England’s Mount Washington Resort, the three-hour Bretton Woods canopy tour takes thrill-seekers across a series of tree-top zip lines and through a network of platforms high in the ancient hemlocks. Unique in New Hampshire, the Bretton Woods Canopy Tour features a dual-cable construction where you slide below two separate cables instead of just one on coated cables guaranteeing a quiet, more natural flight through the trees. Platforms and bridges milled from locally harvested wood sources help to maintain the environmentally friendly commitment of the resort. The Bretton Woods canopy tour includes:

At Wildcat Mountain in Pinkham Notch, NH: Try the ZipRider

Wildcat Mountain’s four-person ZipRider zipline brings riders a huge rush, combining exhilarating feelings of flight and beautiful scenery. The Wildcat Mountain ZipRider descends from the summit of Wildcat Ski Area,  2,100 feet over the trails, treetops and the Peabody River to a landing platform located a short distance from the Main Base Lodge. At Attitash Mountain Resort in Bartlett, NH: Zip from the summit of Bear Peak to the base of Attitash

The Attitash ZipTour is a one-to-two hour adventure that’s perfect for thrill seekers and nature lovers alike. Riders can control their speed and even make a stop along the line to take in the spectacular views.  The ZipTour Adventure consists of two zip lines spanning across two mountain peaks.  The Flying Bear Zip takes riders from the summit of Bear Peak over the valley toward Attitash Mountain. A top speed of 65+ mph is possible while reaching heights of 250-feet off the ground down the 4,969-foot distance ... that's almost a mile long and the longest single zipline span in the East!  But wait! There's more! From there, on the second span, riders will fly on the Attitash Aerial Zip, from upper Thad's Choice to the base of Attitash, another 2,196 feet! Make like a stunt man and catch giant air at Attitash

Also at Attitash, make like a stunt man and catch some air by jumping off the platform on to a giant air bag.  Feel the rush of making a free-fall jump into a 60-by-60 foot airbag, designed to give those who dare a soft landing. At Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway, NH: Soar like an eagle and swing high

Cranmore’s options are a bit more kid-friendly, yet no less adventurous. Cranmore Mountain’s  Soaring Eagle is the zip line anyone can fly! Experience the sensation of flight, while accelerating 700 feet down the mountainside on a suspended cable. Best of all, riders can share the fun with a friend on the comfortable side-by-side seats.

Additionally, at Cranmore Mountain Resort, get high and grab some good air on the Giant Swing.  The swing accommodates up to four people. Riders will arc higher and higher in the sky as the Giant Swing takes them to the limit. Swing like a monkey at Monkey Trunks in Chocorua, NH

At Monkey Trunks High Ropes Adventure and Zipline, participants start with ground school, receiving safety instruction on how to navigate through the  various ropes courses there. They then move on to the initial Green Course to demonstrate they can properly use their equipment. After completing these two stages, participants progress through the levels of the courses in order of Blue, Silver, Red and Black, and each level becomes progressively more challenging.  The course features eight ziplines over and through the trees, with challenges that include swinging beams, tightropes, rolling logs, hanging tires, cargo nets and more. There’s also a children's course on a smaller scale for the littlest of monkeys, with platforms no more then 6-feet off the ground. The Children's course includes six to eight challenges with an 80-foot zipline at the finish!   All activities are as low as 10 feet and as high as 55 feet off the ground!
