For a hot time in the old town, the 14th Annual Chili Cookoff & Feelin’ Good 5K will be held April 8th

We’re pretty sure April 8th will be the hottest day in April in Mt Washington Valley!

North Conway, NH –Chili-lovers and foodies, get ready for the ultimate hot foodie event - the 14th Mt Washington Valley Annual Chili Cookoff will be held on Saturday April 8, 2017. Sponsored by the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, this friendly chili cookoff competition will be held at the North Conway Community Center for participating non-professional chefs representing non-profits and other businesses, and at the Gibson Center for Senior Living for the Professional category chefs.  Plus, stroll through North Conway Village for red hot stop offers among participating businesses.  This year, a new element – the Feelin’ Good 5K – will also be added to the line-up of activities, and it’s all topped off with a fun awards ceremony. Mark the calendar for April 8th, the hottest day of April in Mt Washington Valley, NH.

The best part of the Chili Cookoff for most is the chance to taste so many varieties of chili and cornbread.  From hot-hot-hot to mild, and from beef to chicken and beyond, participating chefs offer up tastings of chili and cornbread. All professional chef chili entries will be judged by members from the American Culinary Federation White Mountain Chapter, headed by Bryant Alden, Chef from the Wildcat Tavern in Jackson.  Awards will be given for Best Chili with first, second and third places acknowledged.  Professional and non-professional chefs will also have the chance to be awarded the People’s Choice Award for Best Chili too, selected by all tasters who attend the tour. Voting for their top choices of chilis is one of the best parts of the tour say many tourgoers each year.

The accompanying Feelin’ Good 5K is organized by the White Mountain Milers and will kick off the Chili Cookoff event at 9:30am. This friendly 5K race or walk is set to run through the North Conway Village starting and finishing in Schouler Park. Registration for the Feelin’ Good 5k can be found at www.RunReg.com  and is $35 which includes entry into the chili cookoff for the participating runner. Additional chili cookoff entry tickets for friends and family may be purchased at the pre-race registration table from 8:00am-9:30am.

The chili cookoff is moving from its traditional February/March winter date to April 8, 2017 as the kick-off foodie event promoting the Spring season in Mt Washington Valley, NH. The cookoff will be accompanied by a stroll through North Conway village where participating village businesses will be offering a variety of value-added “red hot stop” promotions for those enjoying the tour, adding even more fun and value to the day.
