Mt. Washington Valley has a long tradition of greeting upscale travelers to New Hampshire. One of the earliest skiing and vacation destinations in the United States, a number of grand hotels attracted the most elite winter enthusiasts from throughout the world. Today, four of the original Grand Dames of New Hampshire’s hotels have been restored to their original splendor, offering opulent environments for those seeking aristocratic surroundings. The Mount Washington Hotel and Resort has undergone more than $20 million in renovations, and offers literally everything anyone could look for in a vacation. In the summer, the Mt. Washington Hotel offers 27 holes of scenic golf, set on a Donald Ross-designed course, along with tennis, swimming, downhill skiing and x-c skiing in the winter, and so much more. In the winter, The Bretton Woods Ski Area – recently expanded with 23 new trails – and the Bretton Woods Cross Country Center with it’s new spectacular lodge, serve as the hotel’s facilities for skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking. Ice skating, horse-drawn sleigh rides, a full schedule of exciting events, demonstrations and packages around this winter – the first winter the hotel has been in operation in 97 years! Steeped in history, The Mount Washington Hotel maintains its legacy as the location for the signing of the Bretton Arms Agreement, and reminders of this important event are captured throughout the hotel.

Once a haven for presidents, dignitaries and notables, the Mountain View Grand Hotel once again opened its doors as one of Mt. Washington Valley’s premier resorts in May, 2002. The 1865 Colonial Revival style resort, located in the heart of the White Mountains, was restored to its former grandeur, and infused with contemporary aesthetics and sensibilities for today's discriminating traveler. The extensive $20 million restoration, completed in May 2002, includes among its extensive offerings a complete spa, conference & function facilities, tennis, golf, lawn games, a hidden speakeasy, and much more. The Wentworth, An Intimate Country Inn, while smaller in size and feel offers no less sophistication and opulence than the other larger Grand Hotels in the area. After a multi-million renovation, this small hotel offers some of the most luxurious rooms and amenities in Mt. Washington Valley. A four-diamond rated restaurant compliments the upscale ambiance. Guests may retire to their own private-balcony hot tub and in-room DVD players, unique artwork and plenty of extras.

The Eagle Mountain House in Jackson rounds out the offerings for those seeking to re-live yesteryear in a Grand Hotel of the White Mountains. This historic Inn offers rooms and suites that are perfect for families or couples seeking extra room. The hotel offers guests a 9-hole golf course in the summer and out-the-door x-c trails in the winter. Conference and function space provide groups with ample space for special occasions and conferences.
