Fall foliage report from Mt Washington Valley, September 30-2016

FALL FOLIAGE REPORT FROM MT WASHINGTON VALLEY, NH - SEPTEMBER 30, 2016

On the last day of September we’re delighted to report in that fall is really beginning to show its true colors in Mt Washington Valley.  You will see from the attached photos that the color is anywhere from 10% turned in the southern parts of the Valley (as indicated by the photo taken at King Pine Ski Area) to 45% turned as you will see from the two photos taken yesterday at Bretton Woods.  We’re seeing some bright yellows and reds appearing throughout the Valley, with softer tones filling in.

Despite forecasts for an early foliage peak, the leaf-peeping schedule appears right on track for a typical Columbus Day (or so) peak.  One of the most common questions we get from visitors to the Mt Washington Valley is “what day will the leaves peak in color?”  Only Mother Nature knows the answer to that, but we’re forecasting a strong fall foliage season; possibly a record-breaker for some businesses.
