TWO ZANY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW IN MT WASHINGTON VALLEY, NH

One small corner of New Hampshire is home to two outrageous championships - Mud Bowl, the championships of mud football, Sept 9-11, 2016 & the Red Parka World Championship Grand Prix Tricycle Race, Sept 18, 2016

North Conway, NH - Mt Washington Valley's towns may be small, but there is nothing tiny about two world championship grand prix events coming up in September.  While it's half zany fun, it's also head to head competition as teams from throughout New England vie for the title of World Mud Bowl Champions, September 9-11, 2016 in Hog Coliseum, North Conway, NH and then teams and solo competitors follow up the next weekend to name the World Tricycle Champion, September 18 at Attitash Mountain Resort.  Both of these annual events are steeped in tradition, laughs, and plenty of great photo opportunities.  Plan to take part and follow the fun.

Mud Bowl, the championships of mud football in Hog Coliseum, September 9-11, 2016

The championships of mud football mean good clean fun played in knee deep mud every year in North Conway's Hog Coliseum, Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11, 2016.  Featuring ten teams from throughout New England, it may be full of laughs, but there's no denying there is serious competition with team names like the Muddahs Football Club, Rowley Mud Ducks, The Mt Washington Valley Hogs, North Shore Mud Sharks, and the Cumberland Muckaneers (plus Nashua Mud Gumbies and Carrabassett Valley Rats plus more). It's a double-elimination, three-day tournament played in a manmade mud pool making for a weekend of good clean muddy fun!

One of the weekend’s highlights is the 34th Tournament of Mud Parade, set for Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10:00am on the streets of North Conway Village. Add in zany halftime entertainment, cheerleader competitions, synchronized mud swimming, and you can see there’ll be lots of smiles. The theme for the weekend is “Animation Fun! It All Started with Mud".  Look for such float themes as Mud Minions," "Frozen Mud," "The Lion (Mud) King," "Muddy Toy Story," "Muddy Monsters, Inc.," "Mud Duck Tales" and "A Muddy Tribute to Walt Disney."

Proceeds from the world championships of mud football benefit charities in Mount Washington Valley. First held in North Conway in 1976, the games have raised more than $870,000 for charities over the years.

Look forward to plenty of great plays, a Mud Ball and a packed weekend of good clean fun to benefit local organizations. Three-day tickets are $15; day tickets are $6 ages 14 and up, and $4 ages 6 to 13; family tickets (two adults, two children) are $15 per day. Advance tickets can be purchased at the North Conway Community Center, the Vaughan Learning Center, Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, all in North Conway, and Home Run Sports Training Center on Hobbs Street in Conway. Three-day tickets serve as entry to two $500 prize drawings held Saturday and Sunday (one need not be present to win).  Media passes available for press box access.  To request media passes, please contact Marti Mayne at 207-846-6331 orPR@maynelymarketing.com.
