MT WASHINGTON VALLEY, NH TAKES HONORS IN USA TODAY/10BEST READER POLLS

North Conway, NH – For the past month or so USA Today/10 Best has been running readers polls for the Best Ski Town and the Best XC Ski Resort, and the verdict came out today.  North Conway, NH was named the #2 Best Ski Town in the USA and Jackson Ski Touring made it to the #9 spot on the Top Ten XC Centers in the U.S.  Voting took place online throughout January and early February, and both the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and Jackson Ski Touring Foundation spread the word via newsletters and social media to vote daily. 

“North Conway held the number-one position for the Best Ski Town throughout most of the voting period.  Yet, in the end Crested Butte, CO inched over us, observed Janice Crawford, Executive Director of the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.  “However, North Conway came in ahead of famous ski towns like Whistler, Steamboat Springs, Aspen and Vail on the esteemed USA Today/10 Best list, and was the only ski town in the Northeast to make the top three cut. We think that speaks volumes for the town’s appeal,” finished Crawford, who also mentioned how well deserved the Jackson XC Center’s place on the top ten list was too.

“Because the nominees were carefully selected by an Expert Panel and then voted into winner spots by the public, this is a win with real meaning for your market,” wrote the Editors from USA Today/10 Best who shared the news with the chamber.

With North Conway and Jackson among the region’s better known villages, Mt Washington Valley is home to 13 ski resorts and XC Centers.  Referred to by many as “the birthplace of skiing,” North Conway has been garnering accolades as a ski town for decades.  In 2012 National Geographic named North Conway among the top 25 ski towns worldwide. 

Jackson Ski Touring Foundation has shared the limelight too, being named #1 Family Friendly Snowshoe Nordic Center in the USA by Snowshoe Magazine.  Both Jackson and North Conway were named this year among the top ten winter towns in New England by Yankee Magazine.
