JUNE EVENTS ARE BUSTING OUT ALL OVER MT WASHINGTON VALLEY, NH

North Conway, NH – As we prepare for another summer in Mt Washington Valley, June is alive with everything from adventure to foodie events.  From bird watching to motorcycle riding, June events attract visitors from throughout the world.  It’s a time when trees start greening up, golf courses open and family attractions open daily.  Be sure to check the events calendar at www.Mtwashingtonvalley.org for the most up-to-date list of events.  Here are some of the major events for visitors to Mt Washington Valley in late May and June.

May 30 – 31:  Herb, Food & Beer Tour: What do basil, brews and bittersweet all have in common?  Guests visiting the Country Inns in the White Mountains on May 30-31, 2015 will have the opportunity to taste all of these and much more during the annual Herb, Food and Beer Tour in Mt Washington Valley, NH.  This celebration of local flavors, combines herb recipe tastings, tours, take-home seedlings and recipes at eight White Mountain inns along with cooking demonstrations, a plant-to-plate “herb-inspired” dinner and overnight stays at a choice of premier Mt Washington Valley, NH inns.  Formerly focused solely on herb tastings, trivia and recipes at each inn, the Country Inns in the White Mountains have once again ramped up their annual herb tour this year to include a celebration of local flavors including visits and tastings at two local microbreweries, a chocolate maker, a health food store and three family-owned farms on top of the tours, tastings, recipes at the inns. This is one plant-to-plate weekend to remember, and not only will you take home inspiration you’ll leave with a year of culinary ideas and a full stomach! May 31: The 14th Annual MWVCC Golf Tournament:  This event brings business and community leaders together each year for a day of fun and friendly competition out on the greens. This year's tournament will be held at the Omni Mount Washington Golf Course, with an awards BBQ to follow at the clubhouse. June 1:  MWVCC Annual Business to Business Expo: The Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce's Annual Business Expo is the largest business trade show in the North Country. Over 100 exhibitors and 400 participants come together for a day of networking, idea exchange and educational workshops, all focused on ways to increase prosperity in the Mt. June 5-6:  3rd Annual Be Kind Festival - What could be more wonderful on a beautiful weekend in June then to gather together as a community in a giant celebration of kindness! The 3rd Annual Be Kind Festival is set to take place in Schouler Park on Friday evening, June 5 and all day Saturday, June 6. The Be Kind Festival has evolved over the past few years, offering music, acts of kindness, guest speakers, health and wellness activities, a candlelight labyrinth and many free hugs. Saturday kicks off with the Kindness Rally where people are invited to participate in doing random acts of kindness around the community. Beneath the tents that day will be many health and wellness opportunities to take part in, including yoga, Tai Chi and massage. June 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 17: Bicknell’s Thrush Tours: The Mt Washington Auto Road offers birders a unique guided opportunity to view the rare Bicknell’s Thrush in its breeding habitat. Tours are early morning: 6:00-8:00am. Cost is $50 per person and advanced reservations required. Please note: The June 11th tour is an extended tour exploring the alpine zone with a Naturalist from the Appalachian Mountain Club. June 6, 13:  Murder Mystery Dinner Train & Package:  Conway Scenic RR riders are dying to experience this murder mystery dinner theater. It’s a grand night for the annual decades’ reunion of former New England state beauty queens. Rumor has it that one of the former beauty queens will be selected as the very first World Pageant Ambassador and embark on an all-expense-paid global tour to promote world peace and to be the recipient of a $1 million dollar giveaway! They are all dying to win, and all hell breaks loose as tempers flare and the beauties resort to bribery, blackmail and murder to win the coveted crown. The train departs promptly at 6:00pm. The $125.00 fare includes First Class seating for the 3-hour train excursion, a 4-course dinner, live theatrical performance, taxes and gratuities. Beverage service is additional. June 6:  Mountain Garden Club’s Annual Spring Plant Sale: A favorite among gardeners of all ages - this sale offers plants lovingly cultivated by local garden club members specifically for this event.  Available will be: annuals, perennials, baskets, and much more.  This event usually sells out early, so come early for the best selections.  The doors open at 9:30am at the North Conway Community Center in North Conway Village. June 6:  There’s a Black Fly In My Eye 10 Mile Race/Relay: Tackle the carriage roads, single track and a river crossing at Great Glen Trails in this trail running race that’s 100% New Hampshire. The 10 mile course is made up of three loops; run in sequential order. Each loop has its own unique character. Race as an individual, team of two or three.  Entry fee includes post-race BBQ for race participants.  Day of registration will take place from 8:00am-9:00am. June 12:  White Mountain Oil’s Annual Brat Boil and Open House: Valley residents and visitors alike are invited to attend the 34th consecutive annual Open House and Bratwurst Broil at White Mountain Oil, just outside North Conway Village. The Open House is 10:00-4:00 but the grills will be going from 11:00-2:00 pm only. This is an annual event homeowners anticipate every year. Info: 603-356-6386,

June 12:  Jen’s Friends Annual Golf Scramble: The 2015 Jen’s Friends Golf Scramble is bigger and better than ever.  Choose from 18 holes at either North Conway County Club or Hale’s Location Golf Course and proceeds benefit Jen’s Friends, dedicated to helping cancer patients and their families.  Print out an entry form and submit online.  Info and registration form: Click here.

June 13-20:  8th Annual Rally in the Valley: Eight days of events for bikers and motorcyclists.  Wristbands are available at Hillbilly’s Rally headquarters Sat., June 13 - Sat., June 20, and are required for all events. The $5 wristband offers access to guided rides, eight nights of entertainment, and exclusive discounts on lodging, shopping, and dining in many selected establishments.  Info and schedule: Click here.

June 14:  Art and Libations at Top Notch Inn, Gorham, NH: From 4:00pm – 9:00pm local artists present colorful exhibits for guest and locals alike to enjoy. Everyone is welcome so come on by the Mt Moriah Cottage next door to the Top Notch Inn for art, food, drink and entertainment! Relax in the rockers, or enjoy the view of Mt Moriah. June 15, 18:  Ride to the Sky at Mt Washington Auto Road: If motorcycle fans think that Laconia Bike Week is entertaining, wait until they ride the Mt. Washington Auto Road. On these two days the Auto Road is open to motorcycles only. Bikes rule the Road all day. Arrive before 10:00am and a motorcycle passenger rides for free!  Auto Road guided tours will also be operating all day. (Rain or shine weather permitting). June 20:  Art in Bloom: A Walking Tour of Floral Interpretations: The Mountain Garden Club's gift to residents and visitors in Mt Washington Valley is this annual walking tour of art and accompanying floral arrangements at seven or more sites in historic Jackson Village. Approximately 50 Club members display their unique designs adjacent to the selected art pieces being interpreted. The tour runs from 10:00am -4:00pm. Refreshments are offered between 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Floral design demonstrations are offered at 11:30am and 2:00pm. June 20:  Northeast Dental Mt Washington Road Race: Runners from around the globe come to the Mt. Washington Auto Road to take on the fabled climb in this footrace to the summit of Mt. Washington. Entry to race is by lottery only and the lottery has closed.  Spectators are welcome. The Auto Road will be closed to the public until 1:30pm on this day. June 21: Dad rides free on Conway Scenic RR: Dad rides FREE in Coach when accompanied by 1 or more of his children.   Dad rides FREE in First Class when accompanied by another paying adult.  Complimentary appetizers served on board First Class. Info: 603-356-5251, www.conwayscenic.com.

June 22:  Family Attractions open daily:  While many of the family attractions in Mt Washington Valley opened daily earlier, this Monday marks the date when ALL attractions open seven days a week.
