                                                                     FIVE GREAT WAYS TO GET UP AND DOWN THE MOUNTAIN

Mt. Washington Valley, NH offers families, adventure seekers and those who love the outdoors a is a winter wonderland and the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors in the winter. . Whether you’re a skier or boarder taking advantage for the Valley’s seven ski resorts or a XC skier or snowshoer visiting the six XC Centers, the Mt Washington Valley offers skiing adventure for all levels. However, if you’re not a skier, there’s still plenty of of exciting ways to get up and down all of the mountains throughout the White Mountain National Forest, making your winter vacation a one-stop-shop for all things family fun. Named among the top ski towns worldwide by National Geographic, many of the ski resort also offer winter activities outside of skiing and riding

Cranmore Mountain and King Pine Ski Area both offer tubing parks to encouraging flying down the mountains with ease. The Cranmore Tubing Park was rated the number one tubing park in New Hampshire. It has 10 lanes and is served by both a magic-carpet style surface lift and a handle-tow lift. In addition to tubing, Cranmore’s Adventure Park also offers  a Soaring Eagle Zipline, a Mountain Coaster which, which coasts up to 25mph, down thousands of feet of twisting, turning fun through the woods! You control your speed so you may take a leisurely ride or get your adventure at high speeds. Cranmore even has a Giant Swing, which arcs higher and higher as you and your friend delight in the thrills. 

King Pine offers a full lift serviced tubing park and a Friday night snow-tubing promotion, where you can save $10 on a tubing park pass. Plus, show your lift ticket at King Pine and enjoy skating in their enclosed rink. 

Great Glen Trails not only offers fantastic cross-country skiing, but also a family tubing hill too. Plus, their SnowCoachtakes you on an eight mile trek up Mount Washington on the Mount Washington Auto Road for one of the only winter sightseeing experiences available in New England. Enjoy your ride with charismatic drivers and wonderful photo opportunities. You also have the option to be dropped off at certain mile-marks on the Auto Road and ski your way down.

There are so many more winter activities that take you to higher elevations and parts unknown throughout the Mt. Washington Valley. Rent snowmobiles for the day and enjoy a tour over the rive sand through the woods. The valley is home to many friendly rental retailers and guide services, such as Northern Extremes, Northeast Snowmobile, Let’s Ride Rentals and Town and Country. Ride over 600 miles of trails throughout the White Mountains, experiencing everything from mountain passes to rolling fields and incredible views. 

Speaking of incredible views, take in the thrill of 360-degree views of all the peaks while zipping down the mountain on a Canopy Tour. Offered at Bretton Woods, this tour features a three-hour ride from 10 treetop zip lines; one of the longest zip line canopy tours in New England. The resort also offers a Zip and Ski Package, which includes a Canopy Tour and lift ticket for $99. 

Snowshoeing is also a popular winter activity in Mt Washington Valley. Purity Spring XC and Snowshoe Reserve, Great Glen Trails, Jackson Ski Touring Foundation, Bretton Woods, Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring Foundation and Bear Notch Ski Touring Center all offer snowshoe rentals and many offer snowshoeing adventures as well. Imagine trekking through the woods on your own or with friends or partake in a guided tour offered by many of these resorts. Jackson Ski Touring Foundation offers group tours and Great Glen Trails is excited to bring you and a group on a moon-lit snowshoeing tour on scheduled evenings. Bretton Woods even offers lift-serviced access to higher elevation to snowshoers who purchase the High-Country Trail Pass.
