Mt Washington Valley businesses celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

 BUSINESSES  THROUGHOUT MT WASHINGTON VALLEY PULL OUT THE PINK FOR  BREAST CANCER AWARENESS  MONTH

North Conway, NH (10-9-13) –October celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). It’s an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. A number of retailers, lodging properties and restaurants in Mt Washington Valley are celebrating by raising funds and/or celebrating survivors throughout the month.  From one end of the Valley to the other, join in, visit these businesses and help stamp out breast cancer while honoring survivors.

Here’s the rundown on businesses in the Valley offering Breast Cancer Awareness Month offers: 

RETAILERS 

Waterford Wedgewood Royal Doulton at Settlers’ Green Outlet Village: From now to October 31, visit the store to pick up then purchase the limited edition Breast Cancer awareness crystal ornament. A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this collector’s item will go to the American Cancer Society. 

New Balance Store at Settlers’ Green Outlet Village: Visit the New Balance store at Settlers’ Green Outlet Village anytime between now and October 31, and you’ll find 10-percent off the Lace Up For The Cure Collection.  Additionally, New Balance will donate 5-percent of sales price of items sold from this collection to Susan G. Komen, with a minimum of $500,000 each year from all their stores. Additionally, get a coupon for $10 off your purchase in exchange for a $5 donation throughout October. 

Reebok at Settlers’ Green Outlet Village: Reebok carries the Pink Ribbon apparel and shoes; mention the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and receive 40-percent off your entire purchase. 

Rue 21 at Settlers’ Green Outlet Village: This store also carries a large selection of Pink Ribbon clothing and items. 

Lane Bryant at Settlers Green Outlet Village:  There’s plenty of pink ribbon apparel here, including t-shirts, bras and bracelets.  A percentage of the sales from this apparel will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Additionally, purchase a butterfly here for a $1 donation to support the American Cancer society too. 

Settlers Green Outlet Village:  Settlers Green Outlet Village is a supporter of the Making Strides program and Jen’s Friends Cancer Foundation, donating and sponsoring programs in October and throughout the year. 

The Penguin Gallery of NH in North Conway Village: The Penguin has gone pink! Make a donation to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer here and add your name to the hundreds of pink ribbon placards posted throughout the store. 

SPAS & RESTAURANTS 

After a day of shopping to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness programs, consider relaxing for the cause with spa and dining specials. 

Mountain View Grand Hotel and Spa, Whitefield, NH:  To help raise awareness and support research for a cure, the Tower Spa at Mountain View Grand Hotel will donate 20-percent of the sales on its “pink specials” to the Susan G Komen for the Cure charity.  

Cut Off Salon & Day Spa, North Conway, NH:  On October 16, from 10am to 1pm, a Mirabella Make Up Artist will be at the spa introducing the fall colors and make up techniques. Schedule an appointment with her and a  $10.00 donation will be made to the Making Strides Breast Cancer walk. Call 603-356-6276 to schedule your appointment. 

White Mountain Hotel’s Ledges Dining Room:  Stop by after a day of pink shopping for a Pretty In Pink cocktail featuring Absolut Ruby Red Vodka, X-Rated Passion Fruit Liqueur, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine. Six dollars from each drink ordered will be donated to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program.

Snowvillage Inn:  Visit the Snowvillage in during October and enjoy a very special Tito's Hope for the Cure cocktail made of Tito's Vodka, Courvoisier, cranberry and lime. $1 from the sale of each drink will be donated to the local Jen’s Friend’s Cancer Foundation to support cancer patients locally. 

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: Take the 4.5 mile walk on October 20 to help raise funds and awareness of Breast Cancer.
