From train rides to ski slopes, shopping bazaars, sales and more, take in events and shop, ski and stay packages in Mt Washington Valley, NH

North Conway, NH – We’re careening into the sweetest time of the year in Mt Washington Valley; when visions of sugarplums dance in our heads and holiday shopping opportunities reign.  With ski resorts and XC Centers opening, holiday shopping fully underway and fireplaces crackling at lodging properties,  the Harvest to Holidays season is a perfect time to visit Mt Washington Valley. 

Shoppers!  Look for plenty of deals at stores throughout Mt Washington Valley.  This is the season for both shoppers and skiers. As ski resorts open throughout November and December, look for a packed schedule of events.  Plus, there are plenty of shopping packages for the holidaze too!  Read below for all the different ways to find that perfect something for everyone on your list plus skiing events for the non-shoppers too!

Weekends through December 23: Santa Express at Conway Scenic RR: Santa is on board the train with his mischievous elves who will share their hot chocolate and chocolate cookies with everyone. They'll take your picture, too, if you ask nicely, so be sure to bring your camera!  Call for ticket info: 603-356-5251.

December 1: Holiday Spirit Parade & Tree Lighting in Conway Village: Holiday Spirit in Conway Village is highlighted with events throughout the day including: 10:30 - Free movie at Majestic Hometown Theatre, 1:30 - 3 Free Photos with Santa at Northway Bank, 3:30 Elves on Parade in Conway Village, 4:30 Tree Lighting and Wreath Hanging, Conway Information Center, Conway Village, 6:15 Holiday on Ice, Ham Arena, Conway Village presented by the MWV Skating Club, all presented by a long list of community caretakers.  Click on the link to learn about supporters.

December 1: Holiday Tree Festival & Snow Tubing at Settlers’ Green Outlet Village: The day will be filled with live caroling music, festive trees decorated by locals competing for cash awards, free hot chocolate & candy canes, free horse drawn wagon rides with Santa. Plus Cranmore will create a miniature snow-tubing land and C-more will be on hand to get everyone in the spirit for the ski season!  Info: Call 603-356-7031.

December 8: Mountain Garden Club Holiday Boutique: The Mountain Garden Club's Annual Holiday Boutique "Deck the Halls" held at the North Conway Community Center next to Schouler Park in North Conway Village is a must-do holiday tradition.. The doors open at 9:30 AM and the boutique lasts until everything is gone.  It usually sells out by 11:30 AM, so come early!  As always, the “halls” will be decked with a selection of seasonal decorations, ornaments and holiday gifts, all made by the Mountain Garden Club members.  There will be decorated indoor holiday greens baskets, boxwood trees and centerpieces with candles, fragrant paperwhite narcissus and dramatic amaryllis, food for our feathered and furry friends and for you as well.  Several new items will be featured this year – delightful fairy houses for indoors or out and hand-painted wooden sleighs, sleds and candles with greens decorations.

December 11:  First Nordic Warm Up of the Year: Join Great Glen Trails Ski School Director and Olympian Sue Wemyss for the Nordic Warm Up from 10:00am-11:30am. Optional waxing clinic form 9-10. Ski session to. Open to men and women, ages 16 and older. Participants should have prior cross country skiing experience and be interested in personal ski technique improvement, taught in a group setting. Cost: Nordic Warm Up, 3 Weeks: $60, includes trail pass, Single session: $25, includes trail pass, Season pass holders: 3 Weeks: $50, Single session: $20. Dec 12: Delaney’s LOL Artisan Night: On 12/12/12 Delaney's Hole in the Wall will be hosting their 4th Annual "LOL Love Our Locals" Artisan Night from 5:30-8pm. December 14: Charlie Brown’s Christmas Concert at Leura Eastman Performing Arts Center:  Originally telecast in December 1965, the program was an instant hit with audiences who connected with Peanuts creator Charles M. Schultz’s cast of characters – especially with its rounded-headed hero Charlie Brown, his woefully scrawny Christmas tree, and his typewriter-wielding dog Snoopy. Nearly given the ax by CBS studios at the time of its release, this beloved holiday classic resonates with both children and adults of every generation. Dec 15: White Mountain Musical Arts presents A White Christmas A White Mountain Christmas with guest soloist, Ray Cornils, Municipal Organist, Portland, Maine, on the Moeller Organ will be held at 7pm at First Church of Christ, Congregational, North Conway. The White Mountain Singers, with Tom Davidson, guest performers and an audience  Christmas Sing-along will put everyone in the holiday spirit. Suggested donation ~ $15 / person; children with parents – free. Proceeds to benefit the 25^th Annual Bach Festival in 2013.

December 16: Holiday Artisan Show & Open House at Snowvillage Inn: A day of Holiday CheerTwelve talented local artisans providing you with gift ideas for everyone on your list. A lunch will be available including Hungarian Mushroom Soup and an array of sandwiches. Plus, purchase a Snowvillage Inn gift certificate and receive one free for yourself. December 26, 29: Cranapalooza at Cranmore: CRANAPALOOZA! A celebration of winter, skiing, fun, friends and family! Join in the fun this afternoon for s’mores roasting, face painting, and family fun. Info: www.Cranmore.com .  

December 27: Racer Ready Boot Fitting at Bretton Woods: Take a moment to ask yourself: Are your feet cramping? Do you have to unbuckle your boots on every chair? Are you just not comfortable enough to enjoy a full day on the slopes? Let Jim O’Donnell and Mike Cosman fix that for you! Jim and Mike are certified Master Boot fitters with years of experience in boot fitting, PSIA ski instruction, and Alpine Coaching. They will show you how to get a perfect fit that allows you to enjoy an entire season of skiing, not just one day! Appointments take approximately 45 minutes and are on a first-come, first-served basis. December 29:  Moonlit Snowshoe Tour at Great Glen Trails: Experience the wonder of a winter walk on the moonlit snow. Join an AMC Naturalist Guide on a guided full moon snowshoe walk. We will use our senses (and no flashlights) to navigate the trails. We will listen for owls calling and explore out senses as we explore the winter landscape by light of the full moon. 7-8:30pm, $10 pp or $30 family of four, free under 12, min age 8yrs, Snowshoe rentals $10. December 29:  Attitash Free Ride Series Rail Jam: A 1-hour jib contest featuring rails and boxes with prizes for best overall skier and rider. Info:  Attitash.com.

December 31: New Years Eve Fireworks in North Conway: Enjoy a dinner on the town then Ring in the new year in Schouler Park with fireworks starting at 9:45pm. Presented by Community Celebration Caretakers.
