MWVCC VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR PONY RICE RECEIVES VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD FROM SPIRIT OF NH AWARDS

North Conway, NH – Pony Rice of Jackson, NH has been chosen to receive a Volunteer Service Award from the Spirit of NH Awards program.  This annual recognition program is administered by Volunteer NH in collaboration with the Office of the Governor. Volunteer Service Awards recognize individuals and groups who provide volunteer services that strengthen communities and improve the lives of the citizens of New Hampshire. These awards honor outstanding volunteers who reflect the strong ethic of service and volunteerism in New Hampshire. More than 100 nominations were received for a handful of awards. Pony Rice was nominated by the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce for more than a decade of work as a volunteer and steadfast commitment to welcoming visitors to Mt Washington Valley. Rice will be recognized this week for her work as an outstanding New Hampshire volunteer in a ceremony and dinner in Concord, NH.

Pony Rice serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce.  In this capacity, she manages more than 40 equally dedicated volunteers who staff the chamber’s information booth and help out in the office.  Pony is always seen managing the registration table at the chamber’s annual events, and coordinates the volunteer recognition each year.  She spends more than 40 hours month in this volunteer role.  Yet her tenure as a volunteer with the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce goes back more than a decade to when she began as a greeter in the Information Booth herself.

In her nomination of Pony for the Volunteer Service Award, Janice Crawford, Executive Director of the Mt Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce said, “Without Pony the chamber would not have the loyal volunteers we have, some contributing 10 plus years to our organization without a second thought. Pony keeps that entire department organized and up to date with the newest information and skills necessary to get the job done. She is involved with almost every aspect of the Chamber, attending membership events, aiding in events management and working away at her desk in the office on a daily basis.”

Pony Rice will be recognized at the 2012 Spirit of New Hampshire Awards celebration on October 18th, 2012, at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord.  For more information, contact Janice Crawford at 603—356-5701.
