FEE-FREE FUN IN MT WASHINGTON VALLEY, MAY – JULY, 2012

May 27: Seacoast Wind Ensemble: In the style of a Sousa Band, The Seacoast Wind Ensemble will honor area Veterans and provide a musical salute to thank those that served in the armed forces to preserve our nation and insure our freedom. As always, there is no charge for this concert, but donations are appreciated! Presented at 7:30pm at the Leura Eastman Performing Arts Center at Fryeburg Academy. May 27: Jackson Wildquack Duck River Festival: Watching more than 3,500 yellow rubber ducks make their way down the Wildcat River to the finish line will excite the child in all of you. The prizes are incredible offering more than $2,500 in cash and 60 other prizes including vacation stays, dining certificates, spa treatments, gift baskets, attractions tickets and so much more. There’ll be barbeque foods offered by local and visiting chefs, kettle corn, ice cream, lobster sandwiches and more. Watch the “ever growing” parade starting from the Covered Bridge at 1:30 PM, have your picture taken with “Wildquack” the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Duck, and enjoy this “ole” fashioned “Day in the Park”. May 28: Free Golf & BBQ for Military & First Responders:  In recognition of all they do, Province Lake Golf a Memorial Day Appreciation Golf Outing and Barbecue for all active/retired military and local first responders. It's a day of free golf and barbecue for those individuals and spouse. Active and retired military, firefighters, police and emergency medical personnel are treated to a free round of cart with a cart and a BBQ with their spouse.  Flag raising starts at 10:45am, tee times start at noon. June 2:  Free Fishing Day at Wildcat Mountain: Rain or shine join in with Representatives and volunteers from the U.S. Forest Service and Appalachian Mountain Club will provide a day's wealth of experience and knowledge to help the beginning angler get started from 10am to 3pm. Participants, who register on the morning of the event receive a “passport” outlining 5 stations that must be completed before they can begin fishing. Educational and instructional skill stations will include: Knot Tying; Fish ID; Casting; Ecology; Macro Invertebrates; and Fishing. June 9-16: 5th Annual Rally in the Valley Bike Week: Motorcycle enthusiasts and those to love them will want to mark the calendar for 6 days of guided rides, poker run, bike show with $2,000 in cash prizes, tattoo contest, fashion show, 8 nights of live entertainment and much more geared exclusively for bikers.  Enjoy special discounts, and events geared exclusively for bikers! July 3, 10, 17, 24: Movies on the Green at Settlers' Green: Settlers' Green is hosting Movies on the Green every Tuesday in July & August. Enjoy a night at the movies with the whole family for free. A giant sixteen-foot movie screen and Blu-Ray projector, comfy outdoor lounge chairs for the first 30 guests, full dinner menu, ice cream and popcorn, all on the lawn on a warm summer night! July 12, 19, 26: Arts Jubilee Outdoor Concerts: Come to Cranmore Mountain and enjoy an outdoor music event every Thursday this summer. Bring friends and family plus your own picnic blanket or lawn chairs. An early concert by area performers is at 6 PM, the featured main performance is at 7:00 PM. The July 12th will feature "Freese Brothers Band: Oldies and Goodies". The July 19th Concert will feature "Entrain: Calypso, Blues, rock, Zydeco and More!". The July 26th concert will feature "James Andrews: Funky Mardi Gras!". Concerts are presented outdoors in nature's beautiful setting with mountain views at the base of the north slope at Cranmore Mountain Resort, North Conway, NH. Admission: Kids 12 and under are free.
