FIELDS ON THE SACO 2011 PAIRS LOCALLY GROWN, ARTFULLY PREPARED CUISINE WITH COUNTRY ELEGANCE FOR A TRULY UNIQUE NIGHT ON THE FARM

4th Annual Fields on the Saco dinner to be held August 27th at Sherman Farm, East Conway, NH

East Conway, NH - Take the fresh produce of three neighboring New Hampshire and Maine farms, combine them with the talents of award-winning chefs and what results is a fabulous four course meal and event held under a tent in the field of Sherman Farm at The Maize on the border of Maine and New Hampshire. Mark the calendar for August 27th for the Fourth Annual "Fields on the Saco," a special event honoring the land, family tradition and your discriminating taste. Walking tours of Sherman Farm and Wagon rides will start at 3:00pm.  Cocktails provided by Tuckerman Brewing and Cold River Vodka will begin at 4:00pm and dinner will begin at 5:00pm. On this night, everything that touches your taste buds will have been raised in the fertile ground of three bordering family farms in Maine and New Hampshire, for a taste that is truly local.


Presented by Sherman Farm at the Maize, dairy farm and vegetable growers celebrating 47 years and three generations of family farming, Sherman Farm is found on 150 acres of vegetables, fruits and flowers along the majestic acres along the Saco River Valley.  Additional partners include Green Thumb Farms, grower and shipper of quality Maine potatoes, dry beans, corn and  founding partners of Cold River Vodka, Weston's Farm Stand a neighboring seven generation family farm with a long tradition of providing quality and fresh fruits, meats and vegetables to Mt Washington Valley and the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce. This daylong event is sure to feed the food lover in you.


More than just an elegant and artfully prepared dinner, the 4th Annual Fields on the Saco will provide participants with an interactive tour of the host farm. At dinner, guests can enjoy Maine's distinctive Cold River Vodka and wines from Vintner's Cellar Winery, plus live music by Clever Sounds.


Guests will enjoy their dinner amidst the beautiful mountain landscape and fertile fields, bringing produce to plate full circle. The four course dinner, will be overseen by Executive Chef Bryant Alden of Chef's Market of North Conway. All chefs presenting dishes are members of the White Mountain Chapter of the American Culinary Federation.  Chefs for the 4th Annual Fields on the Saco dinner include Gary Sheldon, Corporate Executive Chef for Sysco of Northern New England, Lisa Sommerville, Chef Owner of Vintage Baking Co. In North Conway and a certified Pastry Chef,  Kendra Stanley, a personal chef and owner of Catering by Kendra in the lakes region of NH and Bryant Alden,  Vice President of the White Mountains ACF chapter, co-owner of Chef's Market and executive chef for Fields of the Saco since its inception. While much of the menu is still in the planning stages, Chef Bryant has shared that his entrée will be a mixed grill including peppered beef tenderloin, corn and lavender encrusted trout, herbed chicken sausage, with caramelized onion, potato tart and sautéed spinach with roasted tomatoes.


Tickets are on sale now for $125 per person, and are limited to the first 100 people. Tickets must be reserved in advance. The event will support The Saco Valley Farm to Table Scholarship Fund.  The scholarship will benefit students from Western Maine and the Mount Washington Valley wishing to pursue a career in agriculture or the culinary arts field.  Tickets may be ordered in advance by calling 800-367-3364 or 603-356-5701.
