TWO ZANY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW IN MT WASHINGTON VALLEY, NH

One small corner of New Hampshire is home to two outrageous championships - World Mud Bowl Championships, Sept 10-12, 2010 and the Red Parka Grand Prix Tricycle Race, Sept 18

North Conway, NH - Mt Washington Valley's towns may be small, but there is nothing tiny about two world championship and grand prix events coming up in September.  While it's half zany fun, it's also head to head competition as nine teams vie for the title of World Mud Bowl Champions , September 10-12 in North Conway, NH and then teams and solo competitors follow up the next weekend to name the World Tricycle Champion, September 18 at Black Mountain.  Both of these annual events are steeped in tradition, laughs, and plenty of great photo opportunities.  Plan to take part and follow the fun.

World Mud Bowl Championships in Hog Coliseum, September 10-12

The world championships of mud football -good clean fun played in knee deep mud returns to North Conway's Hog Coliseum Friday through Sunday, Sept. 10 through 12, 2010, featuring nine teams from throughout New England, the annual Tournament of Mud Parade Sept. 11 at 10 a.m., and zany halftime entertainment. It may be a lot of laughs, but there's no denying there is serious competition between teams from throughout New England with names like the Mud Gumbies, The Hogs, and the Mud Rats. It's a double-elimination, three-day tournament played in knee-deep mud. This year's theme is Super Muddy Heroes. Proceeds from the world championships of mud football benefit charities in Mount Washington Valley. First held in North Conway in 1976, the games have raised more than $700,000 for charities over the years.

One of the highlights of the weekend long celebration mud is the annual Tournament of Mud Parade, returning once again this year on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. Serving as grand marshal of the 2010 Tournament of Mud Parade is longtime Mount Washington Valley jeweler and Super Muddy Hero Brian Smith of North Country Fair Jewelers.  "Any time there is a community cause, Smith has been there, aiding such organizations as Carroll County Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the North Conway Day Care Center or the North Conway Community Center, Mud Bowl's three primary beneficiaries," said Tom Eastman, long-time Mud Bowl organizer.

Look forward to plenty of great plays, cheerleader competitions, synchronized mud swimming, a Mud Ball and a packed weekend of good clean fun to benefit local organizations.  NFL Films will be on hand to capture the action.  Please consider joining us too.
