12th Annual Business Expo Awards Luncheon Combines Acknowledgments, Education and Networking
Keynote speaker Michael Kline, dubbed ‘The Entreprenologist' will school business owners in how to turn ordinary into exceptional even in a recession, at the 12TH Annual Business Expo held May 24th at Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH

NORTH CONWAY -- The Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold their 12th Annual Business Expo on May 24th at Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH, with the show floor welcoming business leaders, industry professionals and the public alike at 9 a.m.

The Business Expo, focused on the promotion of business through networking, marketing and education, will feature three workshops throughout the day, as well as a keynote presentation during the awards luncheon that will respond to the many requirements needed for business operation and the very latest in infrastructure, telecommunication and business technologies.

EXPO WORKSHOPS:

  • "The Power of Email Marketing" by Corissa St. Laurent, Constant Contact's Regional Development Director for New England. Corissa will show expo attendees how to use Constant Contact's email marketing software to create attractive, professional-looking email communications, surveys and event marketing communications to reach their target markets.
  • "The Customer's Always Wrong - It's Not My Fault" by Carl E. Lindblade adjunct professor of Hospitality Management at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at UNH. An adult approach to customer service, this session for owners and managers teaches innovative techniques for assuring continued customer satisfaction.
  • "How to Harness the Power of the Social Mediasphere" by Sean Bossie of 4signals Media. Sean will instruct how to harness the power of the social media sphere through facebook, twitter, blogs, squidoo, digg, del.icio.us and many others to leverage the internet and reach out to customers effectively and inexpensively with targeted messages that customers seek out, not ignore.

The awards luncheon, sponsored by Mount Washington Graph-Fx & Printing LLC, will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m., honoring exemplary companies and individuals that demonstrate the business spirit that keeps Mt. Washington Valley thriving. The luncheon is highlighted by the recognition of the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce's Business Entrepreneur of the Year, Employer of the Year, Student Entrepreneur of the Year, Fledgling Entrepreneur of the Year, Fledgling Employee of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year and the Business Expo booth awards including Best Marketing Message, Best Use of Theme, and People's Choice Award. To nominate a deserving person or business that you know, visit http://www.mtwashingtonvalley.org/ and click on the Business Expo logo.

In addition to the awards ceremony, luncheon attendees will be treated to a keynote presentation as Michael Kline, The Entreprenologist presents "The Cure for the Common Business" - how to turn a common business into a great business even in a recession.

Kline, a paper boy at the age of 11, grocery store clerk at 13, and a path of learning through jobs of all sorts of grease, grime, glamour and glory left him as President of Uniglobe Travel (Northeast States) as a regional franchise developer with 58 locations, 175 employees and sales in excess of $175 million. In recent years he's since been a restaurateur, house flipper, trainer, business coach and retailer, best known locally for the Art Gallery at the Met, the Framed Art Superstore and Soyfire Candle. According to Kline, "Building a great business was not an easy task during good times; it's not that it's harder to do now, it's just more important now." Plan on attending the luncheon and keynote presentation and learn how to maneuver though market changes from someone who doubled sales in the recession of the 1990's, and inspire yourself to make your business work for you, not the other way around.

Tickets to the awards luncheon and workshops are $40 per person and must be purchased ahead of time by calling Suzy Halwick at 603-356-5701 ext. 307 or online at MtWashingtonValley.org for $43 ($3 PayPal surcharge).

With this year's theme of ‘keeping the economic engine moving,' business focused individuals are encouraged to attend the expo and ‘fuel up' on new contacts, sales leads and industry news in an effort to run their businesses more effectively.
