Ten Ways Mt. Washington Valley, NH Welcomes Visitors to Celebrate Mud
Mud! Mud! Do you love mud?

Ten ideas to celebrate New Hampshire’s wonderful, fabulous, super-duper mud.

North Conway, NH – Local singer/songwriter Rick Charette sings a song about Mud, Mud Glorious Mud, probably composed after a “mudder” of a winter. Notably the messiest time in Mt. Washington Valley, NH, April and May’s mud season is the time to join Rick Charette in celebrating mud. As they say in the Valley,  “if you can’t beat it, jump into it!”. Whether tromping through puddles or smothering it from head to toe, if you aren’t afraid to get a little messy, below are a ten great ways to celebrate Mt Washington Valley’s wonderful mud season!

1. Mud Vacation Specials & Packages
Mud season is no time to stay at home, so the clever lodging properties in Mt. Washington Valley invite travelers to “get down and dirty” with mud packages to help embrace the inner mud-loving self. Boasting some of the lowest lodging rates of the year, spring is a perfect time to enjoy hiking, biking, outdoor adventures, spa and tax-free ‘retail therapy’.  So bring your boots, and reserve a mud package today at www.mtwashingtonvalley.org.

2. Mud Therapy
Get ready for summer and get pampered with a little ‘mud therapy’ at one of Mt. Washington Valley’s spas.  Throughout spring, take advantage of special pricing on mud massage wraps or mud facials, where getting messy also means a healthier you.

3. Mudslides
Whether you like them straight up in a martini or served in a frosted glass, non-alcoholic or full-bodied, the Mt. Washington Valley has a mudslide for you! Visit one of the 22 Valley Original Restaurants or other fine dining establishments and order your glass of frosty muddy indulgence.

4. Clay Face Mask from Garden Dreams
A combination of Green French Clay and Organic Oatmeal, this muddy-like face mask nourishes the skin and removes toxins as it literally "drinks" oils, toxic substances, and impurities from your skin! So get a little dirty...your skin will thank you.

5. Muddy Moose Pie
At the Muddy Moose Restaurant & Pub in North Conway, the trail ends in a wild selection of desserts. The Muddy Moose Pie, a cookie crumb shell filled with nutty ice cream “mud” and topped with whipped cream, is as delicious as it is messy. Bring your appetite along for this mud-filled adventure!

6. Perk-up with Mudslide Coffee
Visit the Met Coffee House in North Conway Village for your favorite caffeinated pick-me-up. To celebrate mud season the Met is offering Mudslide (chocolate and hazelnut flavored) Lattes to accompany their Chocolate Mudslide Cake...yum! Then, venture across the street and bring home the mud without the mess by picking up a bag of White Mountain Mudslide Coffee, just one of the many New England made products sold at Zeb’s General Store in North Conway Village.

7. Go Muddin’
Enjoy the mud this spring by hitting the trails! Mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking are all great ways to get out and go this spring. Make a day of it, and pack a picnic lunch to enjoy from the top of Mt Washington Valley’s scenic overlooks. Embracing the mud can be fun, so pack an extra pair of shoes and socks and plan to hit the trails!

8. Farms
Visit Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm in Tamworth, NH and experience a real working farm. This museum and farm, open to the public, will demonstrate what down and dirty on the farm is all about! With educational trips, fun and interactive workshops, and hearthside dinners, Remick Farm will take travelers on a living history tour of domestic and agricultural life through the past 200 years. Also visit Sherman Farm and Weston’s Farm and enjoy true farm raised produce, meats and dairy.

9. April Showers bring May Flowers (and the Northern New England Home, Garden & Flower Show)
Mud may make a mess of things, but it’s home to plants ready to sprout this spring. Get ready for the growing season by planning to attend the Northern New England Home, Garden & Flower Show in Fryeburg, Maine. This expo, May 14-16, offers more than 250 exhibitors, show demonstrations and the popular ‘Meet the Chefs’ series. Need lodging? Book a Flora and Fauna vacation special or ‘last minute deal.’

10. Mud Bowl
For those who just can’t get enough of the gooey stuff, plan on attending the World Famous Championships of Mud Football, often referred to as the “Mud Bowl” this September at ‘Hog Coliseum’ in North Conway Village. This yearly event brings teams from all over New England to compete in mud football (yes, football played in knee deep mud). This weekend long tournament kicks off with a Mud Bowl Parade, where home town Mud Football team, the MWV Hogs, take the spotlight. It doesn’t get more entertaining than this!
