• - Monday Mellow Rides - are geared for beginner and intermediate riders and the pace will be determined by who shows up; no one will be dropped. This is NOT a ride to hammer on.

Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center Summer Mountain Bike Series

This is a weekly mountain bike series from 3:30 - 7:00 pm every Tuesday from July 6 through August 24. Riders compete against the clock in this fun, easy going series. The course takes advantage of Great Glen's carriage roads and single-track trail system at the base of Mt. Washington. Complete 5 out of 8 weeks to become eligible for the prize lottery. May celebrates National Bike Month

May 1 - 11^th Annual Valley Pride Day

For over ten years more then one thousand community members spend a day cleaning the highways and streets throughout the Mt. May 8 - 2nd Annual Kids Bike Safety Day at Storyland

The Mt. Washington Valley Velo Club presents this event to promote the fun and joy of safe biking.  Kids Bike Day is free of charge to all children ages 5-11 from Mt. Washington Valley and Fryeburg, Me. The event takes place at Storyland in Glen, NH, from 10 am - 2 pm.  Rain date is Sunday May 9. 

Kids Bike Day will offer:

• - Helmet checks
• - Free helmets to those who need them
• - A bike safety course
• - Refreshments
• - Goody bags and prizes
• - Adventure rides

May 17-21 - National Bike to Work Week/Day

The League of American Bicyclists is promoting Bike-to-Work Week 2010 from May 17-21 and Bike-to-Work Day on Friday, May 21. Use the League's step-by-step guide on how to get started promoting your event.

May 22 - Crank the Kanc Time Trial 2010

Crank the Kanc is billed as the "best unknown hillclimb in the East". The 21-mile course ascends the east side of the Kancamagus Highway. Check-in for the race will be held at Kennett Middle School (the OLD Kennett High School) on 176 Main St in Conway on May 22, 2010. Check-in and number pick-up will be in the Technology Center garage from 7:00-8:30. Riders will then make their way to the DOT parking lot approximately 1/2 mile from the traffic light on the Kancamagus Highway. Mandatory racer meeting at 8:55 and a 9:00 start (8:25 and 8:30 start for the Team Time Trial). Register for the event at http://www.bikereg.com/.

June 12 & 13 - Purity Spring Triathlon

Purity Spring Resort, located between the Lakes Region and the White Mountains of New Hampshire and just 15 minutes south of North Conway, hosts the event. The race begins with a 1/3 mile swim in the crystal waters of Purity Lake. This time of year, water temperatures range in the low to mid 60's. A wetsuit is not mandatory, but recommended. Scenic roadways of Madison and Freedom N.H. make up the 12.5 mile bike course. Enjoy the beautiful rolling landscape on the newly paved road system. Complete your race with a 3.8 mile run around Purity Lake's trail and road system. The event is open to all ability groups age 14 and up.  FMI visit http://www.kingpinetri.com/.

July 17, 2010 - The Mt. Washington Century Ride

A fundraiser for the Tin Mountain Conservation Center, The Century Ride around the base of Mt. Washington is via the NH Scenic Byway/Presidential Range Tour route that offers spectacular mountain views and tranquil New England pastoral scenery. Abbreviated 40 and 80-mile routes provide wonderful rides for those wanting a little less than a Century. The Century is completely supported with five aid stations along the 100-mile course (three on the 80 mile and two on the 40 mile rides), support vehicles with ham radio operators, two on-duty EMTs, and a bike repair support van. July 31 - August 1 - Kona Bicycles-Fox Shox Mountain Bike Adventure Series, North Conway

July 10 - Newton's Revenge at Great Glen Trails

This Hillclimb will be contested on exactly the same course as the historic Mt Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb - the toughest Hillclimb in the world. This addition is in response to the overwhelming popularity of the MWARBH and this year will benefit the Mt. Washington Observatory and other non-profit organizations. August 1 - Maine Time Trials Series - Fryeburg

The 2010 Maine Time Trial Series consists of 13 races starting with the Seacoast TT in Kennebunkport on May 9 and culminating with the Maine State Championship in Cumberland on September 12. August 14  - The Wildman Biathlon

The Wildman Biathlon is a three-part event for teams and individuals. Now in its 22nd year, the Wildman is New England's toughest single day, multi-sport event, challenging individuals and 2 or 3 person teams who enjoy a variety of terrain and scenery.  The event is a 10K run, 22.3-mile bicycle ride and uphill run for three miles. The race will start at 8:00 am sharp from the Shelburne town garage located on Meadow Road off US Route 2, 3.5 miles west of the ME-NH State line and 5.5 miles east of the Jct. of Rt. 2 and Rt.16 in Gorham. August 14 - 5^th Annual Tour De Lovell

Tour de Lovell is a fundraising event for Lovell Recreation Department and Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library programs, equipment and facilities.

Cyclists will start from the New Suncook School at 9 am. The 20-mile course

includes a scenic climb with breathtaking views of the White Mountains and long winding hills in the rural forested farmland of North Lovell and finish at New Suncook School. Kid's 4-Mile Out-and-Back Course: Children will start from New Suncook School approximately 2 minutes after the 20-miler start. They will proceed into Lovell Athletic Fields, do one loop around the fields and return to New Suncook School. FMI call the Lovell Recreation Department at 207-925-1710.

August 21 (weather date August 22) - 38^th Annual Mt. Washington Auto Road   Bicycle Hillclimb - Registration is closed

The "TOUGHEST HILLCLIMB RACE IN THE WORLD!" is a bicycle hillclimb 7.6 miles up the Mt. Washington Auto Road. Come see for yourself why the top racers from around the world and local riders travel to Pinkham Notch, NH to challenge the Mt. Washington Auto Road. September 10 - 12 - Three Notch Century

This event will take cyclists on a scenic and challenging ride through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Cyclists will ride 100 miles through Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch and up and over the Kancamagus Highway. There are one, two or three day route options. All proceeds benefit Northeast Passage, a program of the University of New Hampshire that provides adaptive sports and recreation opportunities to people with disabilities. September 18 - The Red Parka Pub World Championship Tricycle Grand Prix

September 18 - White Mountain Century 

The White Mountain Century climbs through four mountain passes in the White Mountain National Forest in central New Hampshire. It starts at the Covered Bridge Campground on the Kancamagus Highway (Rt. 112) 10 miles off Rt. 16 in Conway, NH. Riders will climb up through Bear Notch and plunge down into Bartlett. The route then climbs through scenic Crawford Notch in the shadow of Mt Washington, then turns west toward Twin Mountain. A ride down through Franconia Notch on the beautiful Franconia Notch Bike Path is followed by a nine-mile climb up the Kancamagus to the notch at 2160 feet and return to the Covered Bridge Campground. September 25 - The Fryeburg Frolic Century

This event attempts to be a kinder, gentler century even though it passes through the hills of western Maine, up to the edge of the White Mountains. It starts at the University of Southern Maine, Gorham Campus, off Rt. 114. The route to Fryeburg winds through pine woods and small villages past lakes and around the Burnt Meadow Mountains. With an Indian summer day, the Fryeburg food stop, near a beach on a quiet bend of the Saco River, may include some swimming. The return ride follows the Saco River, even though you only get to glimpse it now and then. It includes the back road from Hiram to Cornish - a classic stretch of understated Maine beauty. November 6-7 - Porky Gulch Classic at Great Glen Trails

The Porky Gulch Classic consists of three stages over two days in three unique venues. The stages are: The Toughest Two, a two-mile hillclimb up the famous Mt. Washington Auto Road, the Storyland Criterium, where cyclists pedal past Cinderella's Castle, Professor Bigglestep's Loopy Lab and the Polar Coaster and the Rockpile Rampage, a Cyclocross that combines elements of mountain biking, road cycling and cross country running-with some steeplechase mixed in for good measure.
