Mt Washington Valley, New Hampshire, best known as a year-round playground for outdoor enthusiasts, packs the added punch of being home to some of the greatest bars and local brews in New England. Mt. Washington Valley comes alive at night as locals and visitors alike come out to experience some of the ‘local flavor.' Below is just a taste of some of Mt. Tuckerman Brewing Company, Conway, NH: Tuckerman Brewing Co., named after the legendary Tuckerman Ravine, is a local brewery nestled right here in Mt. Washington Valley, NH. Owners Kirsten and Nik craft their beers using an age old German brewing method called "krausening," which results in a secondary fermentation in the bottle that gives the beer a delicate carbonation and intense flavor. Come visit the brewery on Saturdays at 3 p.m., at their location on Hobbs Street in Conway, and catch their free brewery tour where visitors can view the newly renovated brewery and sample some of their hand-crafted beers. Try the Tuckerman Pale Ale or 6,288 Stout (named after the altitude of Mount Washington herself), at one of the many bars in Mt. Washington Valley that carry this brew on tap for a taste of true local flavor!


Red Parka Steakhouse & Pub, Glen, NH: This family owned restaurant and pub has been a local favorite for over 30 years, and with weekly and seasonal events it's no wonder! Come to the pub on Monday's for their weekly open mic night or catch their live entertainment on the weekends, but be sure not to miss their annual adult prom and beach parties. Patrons can have a seat on a vintage chairlift and drink their beer from a mason jar at this energetic and fun neighborhood pub. If you want to experience the local bar scene, the ‘Parka' is not to miss.

 

302 West Smokehouse & Tavern, Fryeburg, ME: At 302 West Smokehouse and Tavern, just over the border in Fryeburg, Maine there is a great special, live entertainment or a party to be had almost every night of the week! At Two-for-Tuesday happy hour, patrons can enjoy two drinks for the price of one from 5 to 6 p.m. or enjoy fifty cent wings and bucket o'beers every Wednesday night. Don't miss open mic' night every Thursday, or ‘Ladies Afternoon' and live entertainment on Friday evenings. If this jam-packed schedule wasn't enough for you, join 302 West for their New Month's Eve Parties on the last night of each month. Delaney's Hole in the Wall, North Conway, NH: Catch the Red Sox or Patriots games, drop by for a quick bite, or satisfy your craving for sushi at this family friendly restaurant and pub just north of North Conway Village. As one of the only places to get sushi in the Mt. Washington Valley, this restaurant has excellent fare but also boasts a fun, energetic atmosphere at night. Delaney's has live entertainment every Wednesday night and being just a mere mile and a half from Cranmore Mountain Resort, it makes the perfect après ski locale. Whether you're grabbing a pitcher with friends or sampling their extensive selection of cold brews on tap, be sure to visit Delaney's Hole in the Wall in North Conway.

 

Shannon Door Pub, Jackson, NH: Voted one of the top 10 New England Irish pubs by Boston.com, The Shannon Door has been providing the Mt. Washington Valley with great Celtic entertainment for over 50 years. With 14 brews on tap and live entertainment every Thursday through Sunday in their pub or on their screened in patio, the Shannon Door brings a little bit of Ireland here to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Be sure to try their award winning thin crust pizzas...a true local favorite.

 

Decades Restaurant, North Conway, NH: If you are looking for something a little stronger? Try the oversized martinis at Decades Restaurant. At almost 10 ounces, these brightly colored, delicious concoctions are sure to satisfy your cravings. Choose from a martini list that would make James Bond jealous, or ask the bartenders craft something to fit your mood. For the true martini enthusiast, patrons can join Decades Martini Club for $20 and enjoy their drink from their own personalized glass.

 

Flatbread Company, North Conway, NH: Come to Flatbread Company located within the Eastern Slope Inn Resort and experience history and local flavor. Have a seat at vintage bar to the historic Eastern Slope Inn Resort originally built in 1926, and try one of the 10 local micro brews on tap. Four of the 10 on tap at Flatbread Company are brewed right here in Mt. Washington Valley. For a truly unique sight, watch local dancer and Flatbread Company bartender, Samantha, amaze patrons with her 10 tap reach as she pours two beers simultaneously from taps on opposite ends of the bar. Horsefeathers Restaurant, North Conway, NH: If you like to sip your cocktails with a view, Horsefeathers Restaurant has just the fix. Horsefeathers ‘Up-Bar' situated on Main Street in North Conway Village looks down over Schouler Park and the historic Conway Scenic Railroad in the center of the village. Enjoy a little league game in the summer, ice skating in the winter or people watching any time of year from the comfort of a bar stool. Horsefeathers Restaurant has an extensive martini list in addition to their great local and regional brews on tap, so sit back, relax and take in the view!

 

Palmer House Pub at the Inn at Crystal Lake, Eaton Center, NH: Named after the inn's original owner, Nathaniel Palmer, the Inn at Crystal Lake's Palmer House Pub has been recognized by The Boston Globe as a perfect spot to relax with a drink and some delicious food. Anti-up to the gorgeous walnut bar that originally came from Boston's Ritz-Carlton and order a drink from resident bartender/ inn keeper Tim Ostendorf.
