MT WASHINGTON VALLEY CALENDAR OF EVENTS - FEBRUARY, 2008

With thirteen ski resorts and XC Centers, miles and miles of snowmobiling terrain, plus sledding, ice skating, sleighrides and a packed calendar of events, Mt. Washington Valley offers something for everyone. Early season snow means ski resorts and XC Centers are offeing some of the best conditions ever. Make this the year for a Mt. Washington Valley winter getaway. Here's a peak at the region's packed February events calendar.

FEBRUARY, 2008

Every Monday: Waxing Demonstration at JSTF. The Jackson Ski Touring Foundation will host a waxing demonstration every Monday at 9:30 a.m. Find out the latest info from getting started to race fine tuning. All are welcome, free of charge. Info: 603-383-9355 or www.jacksonxc.org.

Every Tuesday: Tuesday Trekkers at JSTF - Like Friday Gliders but for snowshoers. Program goes through March 11, 2008. Enjoy a fun and social trek to explore the forest followed by refreshments by the fire. Participants will experience many wondrous winter things along the way. Every Tuesday: Nordic Meister Weekly Series at Great Glen Trails - Great Glen Trails hosts its weekly Nordic Meister recreational race series for skate/classic skiers of all ages and abilities every Tuesday through March 4. Participants will compete on the same 5 km course week after week, and they can show up any time between 9 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. to do it. Tuesdays and Thursdays: Easy Sliders at JSTF - This program is a gentle introduction to cross country skiing and winter fitness for people who want to exercise but don't quite know how to begin. Open to absolute beginners on Tuesdays and Thursdays running through March 13. Each one hour instruction and gentle practice session starts at 10:30 followed by refreshments by the fire in the base lodge. Rate is $10 for each session including rentals (for the session period only). Every Saturday: Weekly Cranapalooza at Cranmore. Cranmore will host an evening festival for families and friends every Saturday through March 6. February 2: Moonlight Charity Challenge at Shawnee Peak - Shawnee Peak's 13th annual Moonlight Charity Challenge to benefit Camp Sunshine and the Shawnee Peak Adaptive Program will be held again this year. February 2: "Hearts of Jackson" Inn Tour - Jackson Ski Touring Foundation in partnership with twelve village inns will be presenting the "Hearts of Jackson" inn tour from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. Participants can cross country ski, snowshoe, walk or drive from inn to inn throughout the village of Jackson. Everyone will be greeted with warm hospitality by the local innkeepers, and will have an opportunity to tour the different inns. Maps will be provided and a small commemorative gift will be given to all participants of the tour. Sign-up for the Hearts of Jackson Tour is limited to 150 people, reservations are recommended. February 11: Diana Golden Series Level 1 Adaptive Race at Bretton Woods - The Golden Cup Series memorializes U.S. and World Champion skier Diana Golden and is intended to promote the sport of ski racing to disabled athletes on the East Coast. February 14-17: 9th Annual Chicks with Picks - This popular annual weekend is for the women, hosted by International Mountain Climbing School. February 16: Hearthside Dinner at Remick Museum - The dinners are cooked entirely on the open hearth using historic recipes.
